So here's a list of 6 great places to farm gold in World of Warcraft:

1) Azshara - there are a couple different approaches here. First, if you're somewhat risk-averse and just want a nice steady income stream, you're going to want to go kill the blood elves. They drop cash, and they drop runecloth. Runecloth has a very nice steady market, so you can sell your stacks of cloth for gold. If you don't mind a little risk in your diet, you can grind on the demons instead. They will drop greens, blues, and even epics occasionally. So you might not make as much on some days, but other days you can really hit it.

2) Eastern Plaguelands - If you head over by the undercroft, there are zombies that are pretty easy to handle. They drop coin and other miscellaneous items, don't have any particularly nasty abilities, and there are a pretty good number of them.

3) Dire Maul Tribute - This requires you to have a group that knows what they are doing. You can find guides on the major sites for doing tribute runs in DM. If you have a decent group and you've practiced it a few times, you can blaze through this in a hurry. As soon as you are done, pop out of the instance and reset it. Then immediately run it again.

4) Stratholme - this is another group event. This instance can be run in 45 minutes or less with a decent group. With a very good group it can be handled in around 35 minutes. True, you don't have a lot of time to pick up stuff, and you aren't killing all the mobs, but if you bring an enchanter along with you the loot from just the bosses will make the trip worth it. It is very easy to make a PILE of cash from disenchanted items in this instance, and you may even pick up an item you can use.

5) Uldaman - For this one you'll need to be able to disenchant items. Head into Uldaman and go into Dig Three. Inside you will find Galgann Firehammer. He drops a couple of items that disenchant pretty well.

I have also had a lot of success grinding on Legashi Demons. Legashi Demons will drop blues, greens, and occasionally even epics.

2) Westfall - Head to the western shore of Westfall to find an outpost of Defias Trappers. This is one of the better World of Warcraft gold farming spots for both low level and high level players. Defias Trappers have about a 35% drop rate for linen cloth. Lower level players can use this area to grind for experience, while higher level players can fill their backbag with linen cloth in no time at all.

3) Stratholme - Stratholme is a five-man instance which depending on the ability of the group, can usually be run in less than an hour. A better group can complete it in around 30 minutes time. The keys to success in running the Stratholme instance are skills, experience, solid tactics, and great communication amongst your group. I've found it very easy to make a lot of gold from disenchanted items in this particular instance, making it one of the better World of Warcraft gold farming spots.

4) Stranglethorn Vale - In Stranglethorn Vale there is a cave called Crystalvein Mine. To get to the Crystalvein Mine head east from the Gurubashi Arena. Once in the cave you will find many Ironjaw Basiliks. Ironjaw Basiliks will drop vendor trash items which you can turn around and sell for significant gold. You can also grind their corpses for thick leather and heavy leather.
5) Felwood - In Felwood, you can find many Angerclaw Mauler bears. One particularly good spot is northeast from Bloodvenom Post, where there are around 15 Angerclaw Maulers. These bears can be killed quickly and will drop a ton of grey vendor trash. You can also skin thick leather and rugged leather off of them. This combination makes this particular area one of the top World of Warcraft gold farming spots.

6) Eastern Plaguelands - In the southwestern corner of Eastern Plaguelands head over to the Undercroft. Within the Undercroft reside Mossflayer Zombies, who are fairly easy to kill. They also respawn quickly and will drop a lot of silver and Runecloth. Also residing in the southern part of Eastern Plaguelands are Plaguebats. You can make a lot of gold selling the vendor trash items and skinning the Plaguebats' corpses.

In World of Warcraft, tough to get items doesn't always mean hard to find...they could be items that people just hate to have to grind out. The dirty jobs if you will. Trust me, in the real world, there are plenty of dirty jobs out there that no one wants, but someone does and gets paid for well!

Here is an idea that is used well in real world free market economies...control the market. Where have we seen this? Dell Computers, Microsoft, AT&T are all examples of conglomerates that have or had control of their markets and therefore could command or dictate a price.

This same idea can be used in World of Warcraft by finding ways to be the sole seller of an item. If you are looking to sell an item that is currently being sold for far less than it should be at an auction house, this might be an opportunity for you. If you can purchase all of those items and then re-list them at a higher price, you might be able to drive the market for some time.
